The Property

River Minka is located on a rural farming property in Wangoom, Victoria. Wangoom is 10km from Warrnambool and the beautiful southern coastline. The Hopkins river runs past the property on the east. Access to the river involves crossing a quiet country road and walking to the bank. Access is less then 50 meters from the house. We have available two kayaks for visitors to use if pre arranged. Paddling upstream will take you to the Hopkins falls, downstream towards Allansford and if the water level is high, all the way to the mouth of the river near Logans Beach. From the house facing Northwest are beautiful paddocks and a hillside that is the back of a volcanic mar, essentially a crater lake. Views of the lake are accessible but the lake itself is private property and not accessible to visitors. We have interest in conserving local birdlife and have planted a great many bird attracting native plants. We are visited on the property by koalas and wallabys. Also on the property is a 1950’s brick house where we live, separated from River Minka by a track, some trees, and 60meters distance. Also the property contains an old dairy which has been converted into a custom metal fabrication workshop. We raise about a dozen sheep in a nearby paddock and the neighbouring paddocks house dairy cows.

Located in the Southwest district of Victoria. We are 10 km drive into Warrnambool, a 4km drive to the beautiful Hopkins Falls, and 6 km from the western end of the Great Ocean Road. We have an easy access to the Hopkins River which is a lovely cool down to swim in on a hot day, or a great place to kayak for an adventure. The southwest district hosts an ever expanding list of independant food and drink produces. Also such an absolutely stunning coastline!
